Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Accounts Receiveable Specialist ensures fast and accurate communication through excellent customer service collecting past due monies from customers coordinating with other departments to resolve disputes.
 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the functions listed below)

  • Facilitates customer inquiries regarding past due accounts.  Analyzes and rectifies customer concerns using established procedures.
  • Understands and communicates the credit and collections policy.  Effectively resolves issues in a positive, professional manner.  Communicate effectively in a prompt courteous and customer oriented manner. 
  • Confers with branch managers and department heads expediting dispute resolution of past due customer accounts. 
  • Refers uncollectable past due accounts to collection agency and writes off bad debt.
  • Responds to bankruptcy notices, returned checks and bank credit card disputes. 
  • Process credit applications and adheres to the company’s credit and collection policy.
  • Ensures accurate customer files and customer billing information is up to date. 
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
     

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
STAFF/PUBLIC CONTACT – Requires establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.  Requires effective communication with customers, clients and coworkers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – Non-supervisory position.   
SUPERVISION RECEIVED –  Reports to and works under general supervision of the Controller. Able to work independently without close supervision. 
DECISION-MAKING – Requires the ability to make sound decision compatible with prior instructions and experience. 
 

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis) – Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, a minimum two (2) years of related training and/or experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE –Customer and Personal Service, Sales and Marketing, Safety and Security, and Computers.   
 
REQUIRED SKILLS – Social, Complex Problem Solving, Technical, Systems, Resource Management, Desktop Computer.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – Normal office environment. Occasional light lifting of office equipment, materials and boxes; frequent walking and standing; requires dexterity in use of fingers for the operation of computers and other office equipment.
